27th October 2018, Saturday- Bandar Seri Begawan- Korean Festival 2018 was launched yesterday with a ribbon cutting ceremony at Times Square Shopping Centre by the guest of honour, Yang Berhormat Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Awang Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports and his spouse, Datin Nurhayana Janis binti Abdullah Lim. Also present during the launching were Her Excellency Yoon Hyun-bong, the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Brunei Darussalam, and Ms Amal Majidah Hj Suhaili, the general manager of Times Square. The event is hosted by The Embassy of the Republic of Korea and co-organized by Times Square Shopping Centre and Korea Tourism Organisation. The annual Korean Festival is currently taking place from 26th October (Friday) to 28th October 2018 (Sunday) at Times Square lobby and atrium.
Moreover, there was also a special guest appearance by ONGALS Babbling Comedians, all the way from Korea. They will be showcasing tonight (27th October, Saturday) at JIS Art Centre, 8.00pm and 28th October, Sunday at Times Square Shopping Centre at 12.40pm. Exhibitors of the Korean Festival include Sina Tour Korea, Korea Tourism Organization, Pan Bright Travel, DKM Restaurant, Seoul Garden Sdn Bhd, Anthony Tours & Travel Agency Sdn Bhd, Cuckoo International (B) Sdn Bhd and Ceragam. The Korean Festival will also feature fun activities for the public including; Hanbok Dress-up & Photo-booth, taekwondo demonstrations, Make-up and hair styling demonstration, Korean traditional games, cooking class, quizzes and Korean painting workshops, to name a few.
Throughout the event, there will also be a lucky draw campaign where customers will need to visit the exhibitor’s booths in order to participate. Customers would need to collect the passport coupon at the lucky draw counter and then get a minimum of six stamps from the exhibitors in order to be eligible for the draw. The prize presentation for the lucky draw will be tomorrow, 28th October 2018 (Sunday) at 8.00pm.
