12191223_1082517498433552_352871422642237873_oOrganised by the Korean embassy and Times Square, the festival is the second of its kind, and marks the embassy’s last cultural event for this year.

Speaking at the opening, South Korean Ambassador Cho Won-Myung said the 2015 Korean Festival was organised due to the “great success” of last year’s inaugural festival.

Cho said that this year had seen an abundance of Korean-related events, including the first Korean Ambassador’s Cup badminton tournament, a Korean cultural performance night, a Korean Food and Art Festival and a Korean Film Festival.

 

Meanwhile, Times Square Shopping Centre General Manager Amal Majidah said that conducting events such as these gives Bruneians the opportunity to experience Korean culture “under one roof” and to strengthen bilateral relationships between both countries. Present as the guest of honour was Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism Yang Berhormat Dato Paduka Hj Ali Hj Apong, who was accompanied by his spouse Datin Hjh Norhaida Hj Sulaiman.

12186247_1082514531767182_4734407109816430991_oAmong those also present   were Ahn Seung Mee, spouse to the South Korean ambassador, President of the Brunei-Korea Association for Friendship Dr Hj Kamaruddin Dato Seri Paduka Hj Talib, and President of Korean Association in Brunei Cho Chung Hyeon. Also present were General Manager of Daelim Industries Ahn Byeong Wook and CEO of KMB Sendirian Berhad Kang Byeong Duk.

The three-day Korean Festival will see Korean cooking demonstrations, taekwondo demonstrations and Korean dance performances, as well as more performances by Chai and the Babbling Perfordian ONGALS.
